Gas purification solutions

Many industries require gases of the highest purity. Pure hydrogen, methane, and carbon dioxide are all essential as chemicals building blocks and fuels.
As part of the Axens Group, Flowvision benefits from decades of experience in catalysts and adsorbents for energy and industrial applications. Over time we have refined our gas purification know-how. Today we combine top-of-the-line catalysts and adsorption material with our in-house engineering and manufacturing it in the design of our PROCESS DRYING UNITS, or simply PDUs.

Flowvision process drying unit (PDU)

Our PDU solutions can be used for most industrial gases as Flowvision follows a multi pollutant approach. This way, the PDUs are flexibly configured to meet the specific application requirements.

The basic purification process involves two crucial elements: a catalytic De-Oxo step and a De-Watering/Drying step. The example below is a schematic illustration of our H₂ PDU designed for usage with alkaline and PEM electrolyzers.

We supply H₂ PDU turnkey solutions for the purification of hydrogen
regardless of the source. Our systems guarantee a green hydrogen gas purity of 99.999 % and more. This purity level is a prerequisite for any application.
For other industrial gasses, the PDU solution requires differentconfigurations. Flowvision has access to top-of-the-line catalysts and adsorption materials for cases where other impurities than oxygen and water need to be removed. Our experts select the optimal active material based on the specific task and integrate the selection into the technical solutions.

Flowvision De-Oxo Units

We base our De‑Oxo solutions on deep expertise in catalytic oxidation within our Group. This is needed not only to select the optimal De-Oxo catalyst but also to engineer the reactors which will allow the catalyst to work under optimal conditions.
The De-Oxo reaction in a hydrogen stream is one of the simplest:
2 H₂ + O₂ →2 H₂O
The sketch below shows the conversion of a model component on various catalysts. This demonstrates the importance of selecting the right catalyst composition as we want to keep the reaction temperatures as low as possible and still obtain a high conversion of O₂.

In our De-Oxo solutions for hydrogen purification, we use Pd-based catalysts as they catalyze the De-Oxo reaction at relatively high space-velocities which ensure small reactor footprints and low operating temperatures.
The Pd-based catalysts are eggshell impregnated which is ideal for fast reactions e.g like the one between O₂ and H₂

The De-Oxo solutions can be used for removing VOCs in various other gases.
For example, in case of upgrading biomethane our catalysts ensure efficient removal of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H₂) and oxygen (O₂) from the product methane (CH₄)

Flowvision water removal/drying units

In our multi pollutant approach, Flowvision offer components-specific regenerable adsorbents in either a TSA or a PSA system to yield highly efficient drying or purification systems. Combined with the De-Oxo solution we supply, PDU results in solutions that let our customers produce industrial gases which meet specific ISO standards.
